Mann Educational Opportunity Fund
The Mann Educational Opportunity Fund is an endowment housed at the Madison Community Foundation which honors the late Bernard and Kathlyn Mann, long-time Madison residents who were strong advocates for students of color in the public schools. They deeply valued public education and actively partnered with the Madison public school system to ensure that each of their five children would receive an education that prepared them to be responsible, creative, contributing members of society. They were able to celebrate the graduation of each of their children from Madison public high schools, but both, sadly, lost their lives to cancer before seeing their five children earn bachelor's degrees and one earn a master's degree. In addition, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren have continued on the path forged, many earning or pursuing undergraduate, graduate or doctorate degrees while others are just beginning their educational journey in pre-school.

The goal of the Mann Scholars Program is to provide mentoring and educational tools primarily, but not exclusively, to students of color from the Madison Metropolitan School District who show potential for academic achievement, but face significant economic and personal challenges in reaching their full potential.
